Although wireless projection technology has advanced, many people still experience common problems when screen casting. Many of the common issues include blurry screens, freeze screens, and high latency.
The quality of screen casting is actually related to the software, hardware, and network. After understanding the reasons, you will find that 90% of the problems can be solved easily.
To solve screen casting issues, we can start with the firmware.
What is firmware and why start with it?
Firmware is the program and the soul of the hardware device because some hardware devices have no other software composition except firmware, so the firmware also determines the function and performance of the hardware device.
Therefore, keeping the firmware of TVs, projectors, routers, and other devices in the latest state can fix most of the problems.
Generally, manufacturers will provide free firmware for users to upgrade and repair the problems of the products. In a way, this also turns to be a low-cost way for users to solve problems.screen casting
Nowadays, there are more and more smart TVs on the market which are very rich in functions. The built-in Android system can install various third-party applications. Some smart TVs even come with third-party screen mirroring tools.
However, not all smart TV could fulfill your need, because of the weak chip.
Here are the common TV CPU chips ranking, from high-end to low-end performance:
A73 quad-core (the basic frequency is 1.3GHz/1.5GHz and 1.8GHz, higher is better)
A73 dual-core + A53 dual-core 1.7GHz processor
A55 quad-core 1.9GHz processor (close to the performance of A73 dual-core + A53 dual-core 1.7GHz processor, there is also a 1.7GHz version)
A53 quad-core 1.7GHZ processor
A73 dual-core processor (not recommended to buy it, they are usually old models)
One of the connections is called "point to point". For example, Miracast protocol or Android phones’ "wireless display" function is to make the devices (like phone, TV, or projector screen) connect directly.
If you mirror high-resolution content to a TV with a low-end chip, you might face the problems such as screen freezes, blurred screens, and high latency.
However, wireless display dongles generally do not have this problem, because their built-in chip is exclusively designed for handling display.
The AM series chips of EZCast wireless display dongles are all self-developed, and the technical issues such as compression, transmission, and decoding of the screen image have been very accurately adjusted.
Users who have higher requirements for screen mirroring will choose to purchase a wireless display dongle.
Besides the "point-to-point" connection, you can also mirror the screen to the TV through a router.
In this connection mode, the stability of the screen mirroring is closely related to the performance of the router.
We will recommend using the router with dual-band 2.4GHz/ 5GHz Wi-Fi which supports 802.11 ac/ax and MU-MIMO(which stands for multi-user, multiple input, and multiple output). After all, the EZCast products have these functions, and the router has to keep up!
The routers that support 802.11n are designed based on the old standard. Because the network parameters are not up to standards, therefore, we call its 5GHz WiFi signal is "fake 5GHz".
The fake 5GHz will affect the connection effect of mobile phones, TVs, projectors, and other devices, it also affects the efficiency of picture transmission.
An MU-MIMO router supports environments where multiple users are trying to access a Wi-Fi network at the same time without interfering with each other.
In conclusion, 90% of issues can be easily solved by either of these 3 steps:
1. Upgrade the device firmware
2. Check the network and your router if it’s too old
3. Check if the problems come from TV or the dongle
